primitives%fix!: refuse bad NetInfo purposes, read bad entries as invalid - #87
dash-primitives holds the network info data model of the reference implementation (dashpay/dashv24.0.0-rc.4). This pull request changes how it reads and checks network info in these cases:
a repeated, out-of-order or unknown purpose is read, with every group kept in wire order, where the reference implementation refuses the value;
an extended value of an unsupported version, 0 or above 1, is read past its version, where the reference implementation reads the version alone;
an unknown entry type, or a service entry that fails to read, is a decode error, where the reference implementation reads it as an invalid entry;
a domain entry that is not a valid domain, a service entry whose address is not valid, or a legacy service whose address is not valid, is kept as read;
is_empty disagrees with the reference implementation for an empty group;
check accepts groups out of purpose order;
primary is the first service of the core P2P group, where the reference implementation takes the first entry only when that entry is a service;
check refuses port 443 for a service in the Platform HTTPS group, which the reference implementation allows.
The corpus holds the read cases that need the reference implementation: the bytes read, the value written back, and whether a read fails or goes on. It was generated by running programs against the reference implementation at the pin above. Each program is embedded with the section it generated, and each fix extends its program with the shapes it changes. Validity rules and checks are Rust tests.

Reference implementation
Corpus
Pin network info reads
The corpus reads single entries, legacy values and extended values. Each vector records the bytes read, the value written back, the address and port of each entry as text and, for whole values, whether the value is empty.
A group must have a known purpose above the purpose before it, or the whole value is refused, with DecodeError::InvalidValue listing the purposes allowed at that point. check refuses a hand-built value with a repeated purpose (NIError::Duplicate), with groups out of purpose order or with an unknown purpose (NIError::Malformed).
The new NIEntry::Invalid is written back as the invalid entry type 0xff, displays as [invalid entry] and checks as NIError::Malformed, as the reference implementation's validation reports it.
A domain entry on port 0, or whose name is not lowercase RFC 1035 syntax of 3 to 253 bytes with at least two labels, is an invalid entry. The reserved top-level domains and the privileged ports are left to check, as the reference implementation leaves them to its validation. check reuses the same domain syntax rules. valid_domain tests the read rules and check_entry_domain the checks.
Read invalid legacy addresses as the unset service
A legacy service whose address is not valid reads as the unset service, 16 zero bytes and port 0, which is empty. The address is read as a legacy IPv6 address: an IPv4-mapped address is IPv4, and TORv2 and internal addresses are not valid. ProRegTx and ProUpServTx before version 3 read their network info through NetInfoV1::decode. valid_addr tests the address rules.
Allow port 443 for services in the Platform HTTPS group
A service in the Platform HTTPS group may use port 443, as a domain may. Port 443 stays refused for a service in any other group, and an I2P service must still be on port 0. check_v2_group tests these rules.
A domain entry that is too long or cut short (254 bytes, a length of 65535, a short name or a short port) refuses the whole value. A domain that is not valid, such as a..b, is an invalid entry, and the next entry is read. a.b passes the domain check.
An extended value of version 0 or above 1 is read and written back as its version alone, and nothing after the version is read. It is not empty, so the provider payload checks run on it, and check refuses it as NIError::Malformed.
Read services that fail to read as invalid entries
A service entry that fails to read, such as a known network with an address of the wrong length, an address cut short, an oversized address or a short port, is an invalid entry, and the read goes on from where the service read stopped.
Apart from the port 443 rule, the purpose order and treating NIEntry::Invalid as malformed, check is unchanged, and the provider payload checks change only through the new emptiness. Transaction ids are unaffected, since Transaction keeps the payload bytes as read.
Breaking Changes
Changes below for dash-primitives.
NIEntry has the new variant Invalid, and NIEntryCode the new code Invalid (0xff).
NIEntry::decode returns NIEntry::Invalid instead of an error for an unknown entry type and for a service entry that fails to read. It also returns NIEntry::Invalid for a domain entry that is not a valid domain and for a service whose address is not valid.
NetInfoV2::decode reads only the version of an unsupported version, 0 or above 1, with no groups, and NetInfoV2::encode writes only the version of such a value.
NITrait::primary of a NetInfoV2 returns None when the first core P2P entry is not a service, instead of a later service.
NetInfoV2::decode returns DecodeError::InvalidValue for a repeated, out-of-order or unknown purpose.
NetInfoV2::check accepts a service on port 443 in the Platform HTTPS group, and returns NIError::Malformed for groups out of purpose order.
NetInfoV1::decode returns the unset service for a service whose address is not valid.
NITrait::is_empty of a NetInfoV2 with an empty group is false.
How Has This Been Tested?
just comb
CI (just test lint fuzz::test, CodeQL included) is green on each commit.
The corpus programs were run against the reference implementation at v24.0.0-rc.4, and the sections hold their output at every commit: the last commit's sections were regenerated, and each earlier commit holds a subset of them. Each section says how to run its program. Each fix commit's new vectors or tests fail without its fix. The domain commit adds vectors and a test case and changes no code.

Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Network information now handles unknown entry types, invalid addresses, and malformed domains more consistently, marking invalid entries or substituting an unset address where applicable.
Network purpose values must be known, unique, and in ascending order.
Port 443 is accepted for services only when they use the platform HTTPS purpose.
Empty network information is recognized only for the current version with no purpose groups.
Legacy transaction network information decodes more reliably, preserving extended version bytes when re-encoded.
Network information decoding now represents unknown entry types and invalid entry data with NIEntry::Invalid. Validation adds address, domain, and purpose-specific service-port checks. Extended NetInfo handling updates version, purpose ordering, primary-entry, and emptiness behavior. Legacy decoding substitutes an unset service for invalid addresses. Provider transaction decoders decode NetInfoV1 directly. Tests cover these behaviors and codec vectors.

Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
Updated after discussion: 1 finding(s) of this review were settled in the inline threads; 1 blocking finding(s) still stand.
✅ Withdrawn: 🟡 Cover non-current versions in is_empty tests
The PR aligns most NetInfo decoding behavior with Dash Core, including duplicate-purpose handling, invalid domains, legacy invalid addresses, and extended emptiness. One consensus-parity blocker remains: invalid ADDRv2 service addresses are retained as Service entries instead of normalized to Invalid entries. CI checks covering the change succeeded.
Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — The substantial change in pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs alters peer-facing network deserialization and normalization behavior, including handling unknown and malformed entries, which is a critical surface.
These findings are from an automated code review. Verify each finding against the current code and only fix it if needed.
In `pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:151: Normalize invalid extended service addresses to Invalid entries
The Service arm decodes and retains every successfully parsed ServiceV2 value without validating its address. Dash Core's extended entry reader clears a service when its CService::IsValid() check fails, so invalid addresses become the invalid entry and serialize back as 0xff. For example, an ADDRv2 service containing IPv4 0.0.0.0, an unknown network, or an invalid embedded IPv6 address is retained here as NIEntry::Service, preserving the original bytes and causing check() to report BadAddr or BadType. Core instead reports the entry as malformed and writes only the invalid marker. Apply the existing is_valid_addr helper to the extended service read path, without checking the port here because Core accepts a valid address with port zero during deserialization and validates the port later.
- [SUGGESTION → WITHDRAWN in discussion; do not fix] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:465-467: Cover non-current versions in is_empty tests
The changed is_empty implementation now depends on both the version and whether entries is empty, but the unit tests and corpus only cover version 1. Add direct cases for empty NetInfoV2 values with version 0 and version 2, including an empty-group value, asserting that they are not empty. This pins the version gate that controls whether provider validation is skipped and prevents a future simplification back to an entries-only check.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
Two blocking consensus-parity gaps remain in NetInfoV2 deserialization. Malformed service bodies still abort decoding instead of becoming Invalid entries, and unsupported versions still consume a purpose map even though the reference implementation stops after the version byte; both can change payload acceptance and field boundaries. CI checks covering the change were still queued or in progress in the supplied snapshot.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:320-323: Honor the reference early return for unsupported NetInfoV2 versions
After reading `version`, this decoder unconditionally reads `purpose_count`. The pinned reference implementation reads `m_version` and immediately returns for version 0 or any version greater than `CURRENT_VERSION`; its serializer also emits only the version byte for those values. Consequently, inputs such as `00` or `02` are rejected here instead of decoding successfully, and unsupported versions embedded in provider payloads can consume subsequent fields as a group count. Add the version guard before decoding the purpose map and apply the same guard in `encode` so unsupported values serialize as version-only representations.
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:151-152: Normalize malformed service bodies to Invalid entries
(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4370218604)
The `ServiceV2::decode(data)?` call propagates malformed ADDRv2 service bodies, such as a wrong fixed address length, a truncated address, or a missing port, before `is_valid_addr` can run. In the pinned Dash reference (`src/evo/netinfo.h` at `NetInfoEntry::Unserialize`), service deserialization is wrapped in a failure handler that calls `Clear()`, so the entry becomes Invalid and the enclosing entry vector continues decoding. The current behavior rejects the whole NetInfo value or provider payload instead of matching that normalization. Catch service decode failures and map them to `NIEntry::Invalid`, while retaining the address-only validation so port checks remain deferred to `check()`.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
The PR correctly implements most of the pinned Dash Core NetInfo behavior, and current build, test, lint, and platform checks pass. One consensus-parity blocker remains: unsupported NetInfoV2 versions must consume and emit only the version byte; the current implementation still decodes and encodes purpose groups. A separate diagnostic regression affects manually constructed duplicate and unknown purposes.

(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4371207863)
Dash Core's pinned ExtNetInfo implementation reads the version and immediately returns for version 0 or any version above CURRENT_VERSION; its serializer likewise writes only the version byte. This implementation always reads and writes the purpose count and groups. As a result, an unsupported version can consume enclosing provider-payload fields as NetInfo data, reject bytes that Core accepts, and re-encode with a different wire layout. Add the early return to both decode and encode.
Out-of-scope follow-up suggestions (1)
These are valid observations, but they are outside this PR's scope and should be handled in separate issues or author/maintainer-requested PRs rather than blocking this review.
Align malformed service-entry recovery with Core — ServiceV2::decode still propagates short-input and malformed-length errors, whereas the referenced Core reader catches service deserialization failures and converts the entry to Invalid. This behavior predates the PR and the current change only adds address validation after successful decoding, so it should be tracked separately rather than blocking this focused parity change.
Follow-up: Open a separate issue or maintainer-requested PR for a permissive service reader that consumes the same wire fields before producing NIEntry::Invalid.
Re the 🟡 suggestion in this review (check diagnostics for duplicate and unknown purposes): agreed.
The reference implementation keeps purposes in a sorted map. A value it decodes can never hold an unknown, repeated or out-of-order purpose, so Validate() has no case to order. Our entries vector can be built by hand, though, and the diagnostics for such values should stay distinct. The next push will:
reject unknown purposes as Malformed first;
check repeated purposes by enum equality (Duplicate), so non-adjacent repeats are caught;
only then check that purposes ascend.
Each case will get a test.
ETA: that push rides the rebase onto #89, so it lands after #89 merges, not within the next couple of hours. The out-of-scope ServiceV2 recovery note is noted and not handled here.

The PR substantially improves NetInfo parity, including invalid-address normalization, purpose validation, emptiness handling, and the Platform HTTPS port rule. - [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:151-160: Convert service deserialization failures to Invalid entries
The service arm only converts a successfully decoded service with an invalid address into `NIEntry::Invalid`; any `ServiceV2::decode` error is still propagated. `ServiceV2::decode` can fail for a known network with the wrong address length, an oversized unknown address, or truncated port data. The pinned Dash Core reader catches service deserialization failures, clears the entry to the invalid marker, and continues reading the enclosing value; it deliberately propagates deserialization failures for domain entries instead. Propagating these service errors causes the whole NetInfo value to be rejected rather than matching Core's invalid-entry result.
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:329-356: Honor the reference early return for unsupported NetInfoV2 versions
(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4371207863)
After reading `version`, `NetInfoV2::decode` unconditionally reads a purpose count and allocates the groups vector, even when the version is zero or newer than `CURRENT_VERSION`. The pinned Dash Core implementation returns immediately after the version byte for those values, leaving the stream aligned after one byte and producing an empty group map. This can consume outer-payload bytes as NetInfo data, fail at the wrong offset, or reserve a large attacker-controlled vector before failing. `encode` has the symmetric mismatch because it writes the group count and groups for unsupported versions instead of writing only the version byte.

Same as the version thread above: how a failed service-entry read inside NetInfoV2 is handled is not part of this PR's stated decode rules. It's left for a follow-up, and that call is the maintainer's.

Still applies (re-reviewed at 90373542): The service arm still uses ServiceV2::decode(data)?, so malformed service bodies continue to reject the enclosing value instead of becoming invalid entries as in the reference implementation. The proposed follow-up is not linked to an issue or pull request, so this remains actionable here.

The linked comment clarifies the unsupported-version finding, but it does not address service deserialization failures. Agreed, this goes in the same push. A service entry that fails to read will become NIEntry::Invalid, and decoding continues with the next entry, as the reference reader does. Expect it by about 06:00 UTC on 10-31.

Still applies (re-reviewed at 061b65e3): Your planned recovery should also pin the stream position: 01010002010103ff exercises a failed IPv4-length read followed by another entry, which Core reads successfully and writes as 01010002ffff. At this head the SDK instead returns BadLen, so the promised recovery and continuation coverage remain pending.

Done in 6d19ac5. A service entry whose read fails is now NIEntry::Invalid, and the next entry is read from where the service read stopped, as the reference implementation does (netinfo.h L247-L252). 01010002010103ff is in the extended corpus: it reads all 8 bytes and is written back as 01010002ffff, and the corpus read count pins the stream position. The corpus also covers an address cut short, an oversized address on an unknown network and a short port, and its sections were regenerated against the reference implementation at the pin.

The service arm still propagates every `ServiceV2::decode` error with `?`; only a successfully decoded service whose address fails `is_valid_addr` becomes `NIEntry::Invalid`. Malformed service bodies such as a known network with the wrong address length, an oversized unknown address, or truncated port data therefore reject the entire NetInfo value. The pinned Dash Core reader catches service deserialization failures, clears the entry to the invalid marker, and continues reading subsequent entries, while domain deserialization failures remain propagated. `decode` unconditionally consumes a purpose count after the version byte, and `encode` always emits a purpose count and groups. Dash Core returns immediately for version 0 and versions greater than `CURRENT_VERSION`, representing them as version-only values. Thus inputs such as `00` or `02` are rejected or consume following provider-payload bytes as a group count, while manually constructed unsupported values serialize differently from Core. Add the version guard before decoding groups and mirror it in `encode`.

Split. The corpus now keeps only what needs the reference implementation: the bytes read, the value written back, whether a read fails or goes on, and emptiness, with one vector per path. The rule cases moved to Rust tests, in the commits that introduced them:
the extended_check section (9 vectors) is gone. Its port 443, I2P and domain-purpose cases are check_v2_group cases (dbb8fd8).
9 domain-syntax vectors are valid_domain and check_entry_domain cases (19ad3ab, ddd2346): one label, too short, empty, a bad character, a trailing dot, a leading hyphen, a 64-byte label, uppercase in a group, and a.b.
6 address-rule vectors are the new valid_addr test (b395fd4): a TORv3 key of zeros, 255.255.255.255 (two vectors), ::, 2001:db8::1, and 0.0.0.0 on port 0.
24 of the 80 vectors moved and 56 stayed. The corpus comments are one line each now.

Thanks, @kwvg. Understood on r4412365984 / r4412371313: unsupported versions will be invalid for every validation purpose in this PR, and their bytes will still round-trip.
I'm also working through the other threads:
the code golf at :214;
moving the decoder facts into BaseCodec;
dropping the redundant empty note;
splitting netinfo.json5 so that it keeps only the decoder-specific edge cases that need the reference implementation, with the policy checks moved into Rust tests.
This queues behind the #86 round, so the realistic ETA is later today. I'll reply on each thread when I push.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
Two blocking consensus-parity issues remain in NetInfo handling. Malformed service bodies still abort the enclosing decode instead of becoming invalid entries, and unsupported NetInfoV2 versions still consume and emit purpose groups rather than using Core's version-only representation. The CI snapshot also shows the Lint check failing and several checks cancelled, so validation is not green.

Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — The change is large and intricate and modifies peer-facing network deserialization and validation in pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs, including how malformed entries and purposes are decoded.

(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4392096133)
The service branch propagates every `ServiceV2::decode` failure with `?`. The pinned Dash Core reader catches service deserialization failures, clears the entry to the invalid marker, and continues decoding the enclosing entry list. This includes known-network address-length mismatches, oversized or unknown addresses, and truncated port bytes. As written, those inputs reject the whole NetInfo value instead of producing `NIEntry::Invalid` and serializing as `0xff`; domain deserialization failures should remain propagated because Core treats malformed domain bodies differently.
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:351-375: Honor the reference early return for unsupported NetInfoV2 versions
(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4371207863)
`NetInfoV2::decode` reads `purpose_count` unconditionally after the version, and `encode` always writes the purpose map. Dash Core returns immediately for version 0 or any version greater than `CURRENT_VERSION`, leaving groups empty and consuming or emitting only the version byte. Therefore inputs such as `00` or `02` can incorrectly fail, consume following provider fields as a group count, or allocate and parse data that Core ignores. Mirror the version-only behavior in both decode and encode; `check()` should continue to reject these unsupported constructions as malformed.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
Verified the combined reviewer findings against head 061b65e and the pinned Dash Core source. Three prior findings are fixed; two codec-parity blockers remain, and the newly introduced Invalid entry exposes a primary-selection mismatch. This was a static review with no local builds or tests; the supplied snapshot and current GitHub checks report successful applicable build, test and lint jobs, with no failures or pending checks.

🔴 Blocking: Do not promote a later service when the first entry is invalid pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:510-513
The new Invalid entry is skipped by find_map, allowing a later service to become primary. The added corpus input 010100020001010401020304270f successfully decodes to a Core P2P group containing [Invalid, Service(1.2.3.4:9999)]; this method selects that service, while Core examines only entries[0] and returns the unset service (netinfo.cpp lines 563–575). Although check() rejects this structure, the public primary accessor does not require prior validation and now exposes a service that the reference does not select. Inspect only the first entry and add a primary-selection assertion for this corpus shape.

(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4392096133)
Service-body parsing errors still escape through `?`, rejecting the enclosing NetInfo value instead of producing an invalid entry. For example, `01010002010103ff` declares two entries: a service with an incorrect IPv4 length, followed by an invalid marker. The SDK returns `BadLen`; Core catches the length failure after consuming the service header, continues with the following entry, and serializes the result as `01010002ffff`. The pinned reader explicitly catches service failures while propagating domain-body failures ([netinfo.h lines 247–261](https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/netinfo.h#L247-L261)). Convert the service error to `Invalid` without resetting or additionally advancing the cursor, and add reference-derived vectors that verify continuation and consumed-byte positions. This is a codec-correctness blocker, not a demonstrated provider-validation bypass.

(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/87#discussion_r4371207863)
Decoding unconditionally reads a purpose count after the version, and encoding unconditionally writes the groups. Consequently, standalone `00` and `02` fail to decode, an empty version-2 value encodes as `0200`, and an unsupported version embedded in a provider payload can consume subsequent fields as a purpose map. Core returns immediately after the version byte in both directions ([netinfo.h lines 408–424](https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/netinfo.h#L408-L424)). Add matching decode and encode guards, returning empty groups when decoding an unsupported version. Preserve the existing invalid result from `check()`, and add vectors proving version-only encoding and that following bytes remain unread. The validation gate already prevents unsupported versions from bypassing provider checks; the remaining defect is codec parity and field framing.
The primary-selection finding from the last review (not inline) is fixed in a77f57f. NITrait::primary of a NetInfoV2 now looks only at the first core P2P entry and returns it only when it is a service, as the reference implementation does (netinfo.cpp L563-L576). primary_v2_first_core_entry covers 010100020001010401020304270f, whose first entry is invalid and which now has no primary. The other accessors already treat invalid entries as the reference implementation does and are unchanged.

⏭️ Deferred (maintainer decision): 🟡 Encode invalid service and domain variants as the invalid marker (tracked in #40)
Verified the complete diff at a77f57f against the pinned Dash Core implementation; all six prior findings are fixed, with no remaining blockers. One non-blocking encoding discrepancy remains for manually constructed invalid entries. Validation was static only: git diff --check passed, stable Linux/macOS/Windows checks and documentation passed, while lint, several MSRV jobs and additional platform checks remain pending; no failed code checks were reported.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION → DEFERRED by a maintainer; not blocking, do not fix in this PR] pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:183-192: Encode invalid service and domain variants as the invalid marker
The new Invalid representation matches Core for decoded entries, but the encoder still bypasses that representation for publicly constructed invalid Service and Domain variants. For example, Domain { name: b"a.b".to_vec(), port: 0 } writes 0203612e620000 rather than ff. At the pinned Core revision, NetInfoEntry constructors reject invalid values and Serialize independently checks service/domain validity before emitting either payload (src/evo/netinfo.h:205-216 and 227-239). This leaves constructed values inconsistent with the normalization introduced here and produces different encoded bytes from Core. Guard the service arm with is_valid_addr and the domain arm with is_valid_domain plus a nonzero port, falling back to the invalid marker. Do not apply service-port or domain-policy validation during encoding: Core preserves valid service addresses with port zero and syntactically valid reserved domains. Add direct constructed-value encoding cases; the existing domain_wire helper should construct malformed wire bytes directly so its oversized-domain decoder test remains meaningful.
Out-of-scope follow-up suggestions (2)
These are valid observations, but they are outside this PR's scope and should be handled in separate issues or author/maintainer-requested PRs rather than blocking this review.
Preserve the IPv6 network tag for fc00::/8 during ADDRv2 decoding — AddrV2::decode at pkgs/primitives/src/types/addrv2.rs:70-77 converts a network-id-2 address beginning with 0xfc into Cjdns, causing re-encoding to emit network ID 6. Core at 0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c preserves NET_IPV6 for this input in src/netaddress.h:444-467. This can change serialized payload bytes and derived signature digests. The same conversion exists at the review base, and this PR neither changes it nor adds a workaround.
Follow-up: Track a separate shared AddrV2 codec correction with a Core-derived network-id-2/fc00::/8 round-trip vector.
Make NetInfo address/port duplicate detection subquadratic — NetInfoV2::check at pkgs/primitives/src/types/netinfo.rs:420-428 compares every pair of entries before enforcing MAX_ENTRIES. A standalone decoded group containing 100,000 distinct IPv4 services occupies approximately 900 KiB but reaches approximately five billion equality comparisons before rejection. Provider transaction payload limits substantially reduce exposure through transactions, but do not protect applications checking standalone NetInfo values. The pairwise algorithm and validation order are unchanged from the review base.
Follow-up: Track a separate CPU-denial-of-service hardening change using subquadratic duplicate detection while preserving duplicate-before-MaxLimit diagnostic precedence.
An extended NetInfo group must have a known purpose above the purpose
before it, or the value is refused. The check refuses a value built
with its groups out of purpose order.
A domain entry that is too long or cut short refuses the whole value.
A domain with an empty label is an invalid entry, and the next entry
is read. A domain of two one-letter labels passes the check.
An extended NetInfo of version 0 or above 1 is read and written as its
version alone, as the reference implementation does. It is not empty,
and the check refuses it as malformed.
The primary service of an extended NetInfo is its first core P2P entry
when that entry is a service, and none otherwise, as the reference
implementation does.
* [6c5044d] primitives%doc: wrap the `netinfo.json5` heading at 80 columns (pasta)
Description:
`````
## Motivation
Follows up on #87 (comment). The heading of `pkgs/primitives/corpus/netinfo.json5` ran its paragraphs on single long lines, so it was hard to read in an editor without word wrap.
## Additional Information
The heading comment is rewrapped at 80 columns in the style of `block_check.json5`, with a blank line before the data. The text is unchanged apart from line breaks. The program blocks and the vectors are untouched.
## How Has This Been Tested?
- `cargo test -p dash-primitives --all-features netinfo` passes.
- CI (`just test lint fuzz::test`, CodeQL included) is green.
Motivation
dash-primitivesholds the network info data model of the reference implementation (dashpay/dashv24.0.0-rc.4). This pull request changes how it reads and checks network info in these cases:is_emptydisagrees with the reference implementation for an empty group;checkaccepts groups out of purpose order;primaryis the first service of the core P2P group, where the reference implementation takes the first entry only when that entry is a service;checkrefuses port 443 for a service in the Platform HTTPS group, which the reference implementation allows.The corpus holds the read cases that need the reference implementation: the bytes read, the value written back, and whether a read fails or goes on. It was generated by running programs against the reference implementation at the pin above. Each program is embedded with the section it generated, and each fix extends its program with the shapes it changes. Validity rules and checks are Rust tests.
