What

Adds the September changelog entry at apps/site/content/changelog/2026-10-02.mdx, covering everything merged since the 2026-08-28 entry.

The headline is agent enrollment: a coding agent gets its own Prisma credential, and you decide which of its actions need your approval. The other two headline changes, in order of impact, are Prisma ORM 8 running on an existing Prisma 7 schema, and Prisma Compute tools in the Prisma MCP server.

Dates readers must act on

  • November 1, 2026 at 00:00 UTC: Prisma Postgres Early Access databases are deleted.
  • December 1, 2026: Accelerate is retired, including Prisma Postgres connections that go through Accelerate.

Both are in the opening and lead "What you need to do". Please confirm the two dates before merging.

How it was written

The entry went through the docs-reader-review skill: the plain-language, staccato, and AI-signs checks, then three cold-reader rounds. Headline and product sections are paragraphs that start from the reader's situation, and terms a Prisma ORM 7 user would not know are explained where they first appear.

Review focus

  • Environment variables in the Console. The entry says you can edit a value in place and deploy the change to live apps. The Console change also adds revealing a stored value, but the docs page still says values are write-only, so the entry leaves revealing out. Someone who knows the Console should confirm which is true, and the docs page may need an update.
  • Does the agent approval policy apply to the MCP server? The entry does not claim either way. It says to check the target before approving an operation in your AI tool, as the MCP docs do.
  • Two snippets to confirm. The before-and-after query (prisma.user.findMany and db.orm.public.User.where(...).all()) follows the lookup table in "Coming from Prisma ORM 7". The workflow_dispatch snippet follows the workflow in the deploy-on-push docs.
  • Console items come from private repositories, so they have no PR link: editing environment variables, "Deploy latest commit", uploads up to 1 GB, and the billing changes.
  • Product naming. The entry says "Prisma ORM 8" where the version matters and "Prisma ORM" otherwise, following the docs. The 2026-08-28 entry said "Prisma 8".

Screenshots

  • 2026-10-02-console-agents.png is the Agents page screenshot already published in the docs.
  • 2026-10-02-extensions-directory.png is a capture of the live /extensions page.

Triage notes

Held back, needs confirmation that it is public

  • Refer-a-friend program in the Console. The rollout mode could not be confirmed as open to everyone.
  • Plan changes in the Console for Vercel workspaces. Limited to eligible workspaces for now.
  • Revealing a stored environment variable value in the Console. See review focus.

Held for the next entry, not released yet

  • Prisma Studio fixes for stale column types and table refresh feedback. No Prisma Studio release since 0.33.0.
  • Prisma ORM changes merged after the rc.14 cut: renaming a table without losing rows, cache middleware invalidation, nullable list elements.
  • Builders Handbook. /handbook is not live yet.

Excluded

  • Bloom build mode in the Console. Behind a gate.
  • Serving the Console from Prisma Compute. Internal rollout with no user-visible change.
  • Prisma Postgres platform work: new hosts, database image rollout, placement scoring, migration tooling. One user-visible restore fix is kept, without incident detail.
  • Login rate limiting and OAuth token hardening. Security mechanics.
  • SEO, analytics, attribution, redirects, dependency bumps, CI, and tests.

Checks

  • check-entry.mjs --links passes: the MDX compiles, and every link, pull request link, and anchor resolves on production.
  • check-plain.sh and check-staccato.py are clean. check-ai-signs.sh reports only the closing ---, which every entry has.
  • The four CodeRabbit findings are addressed in the latest commit.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Published the October 2, 2026 Prisma changelog, covering agent enrollment credentials and approval policies, Prisma ORM 8 release-candidate updates, and Prisma MCP support for Prisma Compute.
    • The changelog also covers updates and fixes across Prisma Compute, Prisma Postgres, the REST API, Console, and the website, alongside new guides and Builder’s Day details.
    • It outlines deadlines to move Prisma Postgres Early Access databases before November 1, 2026, and migrate from Accelerate before December 1, 2026.

Covers merged PRs 2026-08-28 to 2026-10-02 across the loggy-core repos.
Highlights: agent enrollment with a per-agent credential and approval
policy, Prisma Compute tools in the Prisma MCP server, and Prisma ORM 8
reading an existing Prisma 7 schema. Also the Accelerate retirement
(December 1, 2026), the Prisma Postgres Early Access database deadline
(November 1, 2026), the Prisma ORM 8 breaking changes from rc.9 to
rc.14, and Postgres full-text search.

- Line 31: Update the approval and audit-log claims in the changelog paragraph
to explicitly scope them to requests made with the enrolled agent’s credential
through the REST API. Clarify that the policy does not cover GitHub Actions
deployments, signed-in Prisma CLI commands, or connection strings the agent can
already read, and link to the enrollment guide for details.
- Line 50: Update the changelog description of `orm init` to remove the claim
that schema compatibility is checked before any changes; clarify only that the
check leaves the `prisma/` directory and database untouched, while dependencies
or lockfiles may change.
- Line 111: Update the changelog wording to describe entering a replacement
value rather than revealing or editing the stored secret. Keep the staged edits,
single Save changes action, and separate production and preview counts
unchanged.
- Line 130: Update the Prisma ORM 8 changelog entry to name `websearchToTsquery`
and accurately describe that it interprets quoted phrases, `or`, and `-` in user
input. Keep the bare-string type-error statement, but remove the implication
that it prevents users from adding search operators.

The entry read like a spec: clipped sentences, bold labels on most
bullets, and vocabulary from the release notes. This pass follows the
docs-reader-review skill. Headline and product sections are now
paragraphs that start from the reader's situation, terms such as
contract, promote, and Composer are explained where they first appear,
and repeated statements are cut. Three cold-reader rounds.

Also corrects four claims from review: the approval policy covers the
agent's API requests and not deploys started by a push, orm init
installs a package before its schema check, environment values are
edited in place, and websearchToTsquery is described by what it accepts.

- If a relation uses a foreign key made of more than one column, `include()` could return related records that belonged to a different parent. It now returns the right ones. ([#30107](https://github.com/prisma/orm/pull/30107))
- `db sign` is the command that tells Prisma ORM 8 an existing database already matches your schema. After you run it, `migration plan` now proposes only your next change. It used to propose recreating every table. ([#30251](https://github.com/prisma/orm/pull/30251))
- A query whose results you have not finished reading no longer holds on to a pooled connection, so it cannot block other queries when the pool is small. ([#30259](https://github.com/prisma/orm/pull/30259))

Limit the connection-release claim to buffered results.

A server-side cursor keeps its connection until the cursor finishes or closes. Limit this changelog entry to buffered results.

Suggested wording
-- A query whose results you have not finished reading no longer holds on to a pooled connection, so it cannot block other queries when the pool is small. ([#30259](https://github.com/prisma/orm/pull/30259))
+- A buffered query now releases its pooled connection before you finish reading its results, so another query can use that connection. A server-side cursor still holds its connection until the cursor finishes or closes. ([#30259](https://github.com/prisma/orm/pull/30259))
