feat(agents): share Depot through the vault; add Codex access tokens and OpenRouter - #71
Conversation
Developer profiles no longer carry a Depot organization and token. The agent bootstrap reads them from the via profile's depot service with the profile's 1Password service account token, so every developer's agents share one Depot credential, and a missing or unreadable service only turns the remote cache off. Add codex_access_token, a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise Codex access token exported as CODEX_ACCESS_TOKEN. It has no refresh token, so any number of Sandboxes can use it at once, alongside claude_oauth_token. The image, the manager and the GPUI enroll form apply the same rules: no Depot section, an OpenAI API key or a Codex access token but not both, and the token must start with at-.

Review comments at @voltage/images/buzz-agent/profile.py:
- Around line 148-149: Update the early return guarded by the `services` and
`DEPOT_SERVICE` check to emit the documented “Depot cache unavailable” warning
when the Depot entry is missing, then preserve the existing `None` return.
- Line 16: Update FIELDS so validate() accepts profiles containing the legacy
top-level depot field, allowing depot(profile) to handle it without rejecting
the profile first.
- Around line 157-167: Update the exception handler in depot() to catch
subprocess.CalledProcessError alongside the existing fallback exceptions, so
failed op reads return None and bootstrap continues without the remote cache.

The subscriptions mode rotates the shared fixture profile to the two subscription tokens, so no-depot loaded those and its probe refused the environment. Rotate back to the original models first.
Profiles accept openrouter_api_key, exported as OPENROUTER_API_KEY with BUZZ_AGENT_PROVIDER=openrouter unless the agent sets a provider, so the Buzz agent runtime can run any OpenRouter model. The bootstrap refuses an inherited key, and the Codex setup gate refuses it like other API keys. The Buzz agent reads its model at startup and refuses to start without one, so the Remote workspace launch now sends the agent's model as BUZZ_AGENT_MODEL for that runtime, as it sends ANTHROPIC_MODEL for Claude.
…e op Log Depot cache unavailable when the via profile has no depot service, as the README documents, and treat an op that cannot run (OSError) like a failed read: the session starts without the remote cache.
What
Two changes to the developer profile that remote agents load, so a developer enrolls only their own accounts:
depotsection, and the enroll form no longer asks for it.At Sandbox start, the bootstrap reads the Depot organization and token named by the via profile's
depotservice, using the profile's 1Password service account token:It writes the same
depot-tokenanddepot.jsonfiles as before, sobuzz-agent-cacheis unchanged.Without the service, or if the vault read fails, the session starts without the remote cache and logs
Depot cache unavailable; no value is printed.codex_access_token, a Codex access token (at-…), exported asCODEX_ACCESS_TOKEN.claude_oauth_token(fromclaude setup-token), one profile now carries both subscriptions.openrouter_api_key, exported asOPENROUTER_API_KEY.BUZZ_AGENT_PROVIDER=openrouterunless the agent sets its own, so thebuzz-agentruntime can run any OpenRouter model, for exampleqwen/qwen3-coder.BUZZ_AGENT_MODELfor that runtime, as it already sendsANTHROPIC_MODELfor Claude.Rules
The image (
profile.py), the manager (profile.rs) and the GPUI form (enroll.rs) apply the same rules:version,developer,owner_pubkey,git,github,viaandmodels. A profile withdepotis refused with "Profile fields are incomplete or unsupported". No profile has been enrolled yet (the staging profile secret has no versions), so nothing stored breaks.modelsacceptsopenai_api_key,codex_access_token,anthropic_api_key,claude_oauth_tokenandopenrouter_api_key. API keys still work as before.openai_api_keyandcodex_access_tokencan't be combined, because Codex readsCODEX_ACCESS_TOKENbefore its saved API-key login (codex-rs/login/src/auth/manager.rsatrust-v0.159.3). The message is "Choose either an OpenAI API key or a Codex access token".codex_access_tokenmust start withat-("Use a Codex access token (at-...)"). This catches an API key pasted into the wrong field. Codex treats anything else as an agent-identity JWT.CODEX_ACCESS_TOKENorOPENROUTER_API_KEY, like the other model variables.GPUI form
Tests
buzz-sandbox-reaper: all 89 tests pass. They cover the new profile rules, the refused legacydepotsection, and the manager fixtures.remote_workspacetests (16 pass): the Buzz agent launch sendsBUZZ_AGENT_MODEL; both subscriptions together, OpenAI key plus Codex token refused, a non-at-token refused, and no Depot fields.test-profile.py(runs in the image workflow):opserves the Depot values, and every valid mode assertsdepot-tokenwas loaded from it;subscriptions(Codex token, Claude token and OpenRouter key together),no-depot(vault read fails and the session still starts), andinherited-codexandinherited-openrouter(refused);at-;profile.pyedge cases, checked locally: nodepotservice, opfailure, non-op://references, and scalarservicesorsecretsall fall back to no cache. Not in this change
