Index anonymous EVM events on a generalized topic-filter pipeline - #1769

An anonymous event's logs carry no signature topic: topic0 holds its first indexed param. Such events are now recognised from the `anonymous` keyword in config.yaml or `"anonymous": true` in an ABI file, and indexed through a `where` that names values for that param in every alternative. The topic filter is generalised so topic0 is an ordinary position: - CLI: `Event.sighash` is `None` for anonymous events; config validation requires 1..=4 indexed params for them and at most 3 for regular events; the dispatch-key duplicate check skips anonymous events. The internal config omits `sighash` for them. - Runtime: `Internal.topicConstraint` (Any | Values | ContractAddresses) per position in `Internal.topicFilter`; `resolvedWhere.topicFilters`. `parseWhereOrThrow` lays out the signature plus indexed params and rejects, at registration, any anonymous registration whose filter leaves topic0 open. - Sources: one `topic_filter` module shared by query building and routing (`TopicFilterInput`, `TopicConstraint`, `TopicFilters`). Routing no longer compares topic0 to the sighash separately, the decoder is built anonymous when there is no sighash, and compress only folds alternatives that constrain topic0 alone. - TS: an anonymous event's `eventFilters` entry is marked `anonymous: true` with its first indexed param required, which makes `where` required on `onEvent`/`contractRegister`/`EvmOnEventOptions` and rejects `true`. The JS value tape wrote a FixedBytes value's whole 32-byte word, so a
bytes4 like LogNote's `sig` came out as 0x29ae8114000…0 instead of
0x29ae8114. Write only the declared bytes.
An anonymous event's `where.params` list was typed as a non-empty tuple,
which TypeScript doesn't infer for `() => ({ params: [...] })`, so that
callback was rejected. Type it as a plain list; an empty one still
throws when the handler registers.

…loads With raw_events on, an anonymous event nobody registered got a bare registration with no `where`, which threw at startup. Simulating such an event threw the same where error instead of "no handler runs", through a handler-less fallback registration that simulate always filtered out anyway; drop it. Two anonymous events sharing a name but not a signature were reported as a byte-identical duplicate, since both have no sighash. Compare their signatures instead. Route a log by its topic filters before its emitter: with topic0 now a filter position, checking it first keeps the cheap rejection the old sighash comparison gave. A simulated item ran every live registration of its event, ignoring static where.params values. The simulate source now encodes the item's indexed params to topics with the same encoder a where value goes through and keeps an item only for registrations whose topic filters it matches; an item no filter matches is reported as unrouted. A simulated item matching one where alternative was dropped when another alternative filtered by chain.<Contract>.addresses, since the address gate applied to the whole registration. Check ContractAddresses at its topic position inside each alternative, like real routing does, and drop the registration-wide addressFilterParamGroups. - LogSelection: derive filterByAddresses once and reuse it for the unused-addresses check instead of scanning the filters twice. - SimulateSource: fold topicFilterMatches into its only caller, dropping the injected topicAt/isContractAddressAt callbacks. - topic_filter.rs: TopicConstraint is module-private. - decode.rs tests: anonymous_note_reg reuses value_reg's no-where filters. Resolve conflicts with Fuel where support (#1770): Fuel registrations keep the optional handler field, isDroppedByWhere reads topicFilters, and parseWhereOrThrow evaluates callbacks through the shared evaluateWhere. Anonymous EVM events can now be indexed. An event is anonymous when its signature ends in
anonymousor its ABI entry has"anonymous": true. Such logs carry no signature topic: topic0 holds the first indexed param. So every registration of an anonymous event must filter that param by concrete values:Replaces the config-only
topic0:approach in #1706 (discussed there). Covers the fixed-topic0 case; the varying-topic0 case in #990 is not covered yet.Design
Rather than special-casing anonymous events, the topic-filter pipeline is generalized. All four topic positions are now symmetric, and the event's signature is just a topic0 constraint, which an anonymous event doesn't have. The layers stay as they were:
Event.sighash: Option<String>, which isNoneonly for anonymous events.sighashwhen there is none.Internal.topicConstraint(Any | Values | ContractAddresses) andtopicFilter(topic0…topic3);resolvedWhere.topicFiltersis a list of alternatives, any of which may match.LogSelection.parseWhereOrThrowlays out the positions from the optional sighash plus the indexed params. For an anonymous event it throws at theonEvent/contractRegistercall site unless every alternative gives topic0 values. The error names the event, the contract and the param.evm_hypersync_source/topic_filter.rs, is used by both query building (selection.rs) and routing (decode.rs). It replaces two duplicate parsers that each special-cased topic0.compressmerges only selections that constrain topic0 alone. Any other selection stays separate, so an unconstrained topic0 can't be dropped silently.createTestIndexer):wherematches it, through the same topic encoding. Before, every handler of the event ran; this affected regular events too.chain.X.addressesis checked per alternative, as real routing does. The per-registrationaddressFilterParamGroupsand the code that existed only for it are deleted.whereis required ononEventandcontractRegister, every filter must name the first param, and a callback may return a filter orfalsebut nottrue. The generated ReScript types are unchanged.Supporting #990 later (an anonymous event with no topic0 filter) only needs the ReScript check and the Rust check relaxed; query building already handles an open topic0.
Should the source interface take generic filters? No
What exists today:
Source.t.getItemsOrThrowtakes~selection: FetchState.selection: the partition's registrations plusdependsOnAddresses. It also takes~addressSet, the partition's addresses, which is already ecosystem-neutral. Sources get no separate filter argument.Internal.res:evmOnEventRegistration.resolvedWhere.topicFilters(topic constraints per position, as a list of alternatives);svmOnEventRegistration.accountFilters(account slots) plusisInner;HyperSyncClient.Registration.fromOnEventRegistrations). From then on Rust owns the filter: per-partition query building (selection.rs,SelectionBuilder, also used byevm_rpc_source/mod.rs) and item routing (decode.rs). The SVM source does the same with its ownRegistration. OnlySimulateSourcereadstopicFiltersin ReScript. So a generic filter in the source interface would be a union that every source unwraps to its own ecosystem's kind. Topic positions, account slots and Fuel receipt kinds share no meaning, so there's nothing common for a source to do with it. What future filter features need is the EVM topic filter itself to be general, which this PR does. For the move to Rust, the remaining ReScript part is turning a user's
whereinto topic filters: callbacks, thechainobject and thechain.X.addressessentinel. It stays in ReScript so errors point at theonEventcall site. The next step would be a napi call made at registration time that lays out the topic positions and encodes the values (encoding already goes through the addon'sencodeIndexedTopic). Also fixed
bytesNparams decode to their declared width. Since Decode EVM, SVM and Fuel params to a JS value tape on the worker #1675 the decoder wrote the full 32-byte word, so abytes4read0x29ae8114000…0. It now reads0x29ae8114. This changes values forbytes1–bytes31params, back to what they were before Decode EVM, SVM and Fuel params to a JS value tape on the worker #1675.raw_events: trueno longer fail at startup. Simulating one reports the usual "no handler" error.namefield" error instead of "remove the duplicate".Tests
Each new test failed first:
AnonymousEvent_test.res: the full indexer on Postgres over HyperSync and RPC, with config declaring the event by signature (Vat) and by ABI file (Jug). One assertion covers:chain.X.addresseson a later param;AnonymousEventWhereErrors_test.res: 11 cases that must reject with the exact message, and 4 that must pass.SimulateWhereParams_test.res,SimulateWhereAddresses_test.res,AnonymousEventSimulate_test.res: simulate routing.UserApiValidation_test.res: indexed-param limits, and same-named anonymous overloads.EvmHandlersApi_test.res"Anonymous event types": accepted forms and 9@ts-expect-errorcases.compresskeeps an open topic0 separate; anonymous routing and decoding; both sides reject an anonymous registration with no topic0 values. The outside-in
OnEventWhere*tests from #1762 pass unchanged, which guards the refactor.Verification
