Course Ops - volunteer guides

One page per link. Open the one that matches the badge in the top-right corner of your screen.

The radio comes first

Course Ops is supplemental. It does not replace the net.

Every report still goes over the air to Net Control - including anything you enter in the app yourself. Drop the pin and call it in. If it was not on the air, work on the basis that nobody knows.

The top bar: event name, your role, and the connection badge

Your badge says Read this You can
Net Control Net Control Everything: station status, the pickup queue, lead runners, matching a callsign that arrives on the wrong SSID
SAG SAG Work the pickup queue - en route, picked up, dropped off - and fill in the bib
Liaison Liaison Report a pickup or a course note. Everything else is read-only
Logistics Logistics Report a pickup or a course note, and watch the sweep. Everything else is read-only
Staff - view only Staff See the map, the stations and the lead runners. Change nothing

Everyone should also read The basics, whichever link you hold: the map, the colours, the panels, and how it behaves on a phone.

Standing the event up rather than working it?

Page Covers
Setup: the course Organizations and events, importing the organizer's files, courses, places
Setup: roster and links Who is out there, and how each of them gets in
Setup: race week and after Tracking, the check-in rehearsal, the after-event report
Making it yours Layers, roles, and what else a club can do with this

The one rule about your link

The link is the login. Anyone holding it has your role, so send it on only if a club officer tells you to. If your phone dies or you lose the link, ask whoever sent it - it can simply be sent again.

The Staff link is the exception. It is the one meant to be forwarded, which is exactly why it cannot change anything.

Setting up an event

These guides are for event day. Setting an event up - importing the course, building the roster, handing out the links - is in docs/RUNBOOK.md.

Screenshots on these pages come from a demonstration event with invented callsigns, operators and runners. Nothing in them is real traffic.
