Protected Cast conversion modelopt/onnx/graph_surgery/dla_transforms/dla_cast_to_fp32.py, tests/unit/onnx/graph_surgery/dla_transforms/test_dla_cast_to_fp32.py |
The transform identifies eligible Cast outputs through connected operator type constraints and changes their targets to FLOAT. It updates matching intermediate-value and graph-output types. Tests cover converted and protected Casts, including runtime output comparisons. |
Priority-based node ordering modelopt/onnx/graph_surgery/dla_transforms/dla_reorder_nodes.py, tests/unit/onnx/graph_surgery/dla_transforms/test_dla_reorder_nodes.py |
The ordering function builds dependencies and prioritizes selected support nodes while preserving graph dependencies. Tests cover ordering, duplicate edges, and unresolved dependencies. |
DLA transform orchestration modelopt/onnx/graph_surgery/make_dla_compatible.py, tests/unit/onnx/graph_surgery/dla_transforms/test_dla_pipeline_scaffold.py |
The pipeline runs configured transforms with shape inference, reorders nodes, and checks the model. It rejects conflicting QDQ options and raises NotImplementedError when either QDQ option is requested. |

The pipeline appears ready to merge with bounded follow-up on protected-consumer test coverage. The previously reported duplicate shape-inference entry is no longer present.

Full details: Title check
-
Explanation
The title "[4/17] Private ordered DLA scaffold and node ordering" matches the main changes: the pipeline scaffold (make_dla_compatible.py), FP32 Cast promotion (dla_cast_to_fp32.py), and priority-based topological node ordering (dla_reorder_nodes.py), with matching tests. The "[4/17]" prefix is a stack-position marker and does not describe the change, but the remaining wording identifies the primary work accurately. The title omits the FP32 Cast promotion, which is a large part of the diff (+184 lines plus 683 lines of tests), so it is somewhat narrow but still related to the main change.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
-
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 36 functions across 6 files.
Full details: Security Anti-Patterns
-
Explanation
PASS. The PR changes only three new modelopt ONNX Python modules and tests; no examples, pyproject.toml, or requirements files changed. The added code contains no torch.load(..., weights_only=False), numpy.load(..., allow_pickle=True), hardcoded trust_remote_code=True, eval(), exec(), or # nosec. No new dependency is introduced.

Addressed the verified Cast type/metadata, GatherND and unavailable-QDQ findings in 6dc8c31. Replaced repeated metadata scans with cached lookup/schema analysis; preserved all later pipeline stages during rebase. Added all missing docstrings (11 source and 23 test functions). Twelve cases fail against the original source; all 234 focused and 436 rebased integration tests pass. Hooks and signature checks pass. Addressed the remaining review nit in cfb07c3: a real caller-level success test now verifies Cast dispatch, final support-node ordering, a valid returned model, and both CPU outputs. The test fails if either Cast dispatch or final reordering is omitted. Production source is unchanged. All 235 focused and 437 rebased integration tests pass; every introduced source/test function has a docstring. Pre-commit and signature checks pass. What does this PR do?
Type of change: new feature
Add the private ordered DLA pipeline scaffold, FP32 Cast target conversion, and priority topological node ordering. The orchestrator invokes each registered stage in order, refreshes shapes at explicit boundaries, removes unused initializers, orders nodes, and checks the resulting model.
Cast conversion uses the model's actual ONNX opsets and schemas to connect shared input/output type variables. Cast operands can convert together when their connected types permit FP32; fixed operands, integer/boolean controls, opaque operations, lexical captures, and independent inferred output types preserve their required precision. Intermediate and graph-output descriptors are updated together. Schema lookups are cached per operation/domain, and metadata uses name lookups rather than repeated scans. No tensor payloads are copied by this analysis.
Legacy
Modschemas before version 28 require integer operands whenfmodis omitted or zero, even though the schema's type list includes FP32. The Cast stage now preserves those connected integer groups;fmod=1can still promote compatible floating Casts. This follows the versioned ONNX Mod specification. The scaffold rejects explicitly requested QDQ options before execution while the QDQ stage is unavailable, preserving the existing mutually exclusive option error. Consecutive duplicate inference was removed from this slice; later slices retain inference boundaries separated by their graph rewrites. All introduced functions, including nested helpers and tests, have docstrings.
Part 4/17. Depends on PR3 #2955. Review against that branch and merge the stack from the bottom upward. This remains a draft; public integration follows in part 16.
Usage
This slice exposes an internal scaffold. Additional operation and rank transformations follow in the subsequent parts.
Testing
fmod=1, including negative values.Tests used Hugging Face offline mode, with repository-wide conftest/addopts disabled while real CPU inference ran. GPU execution and DLA compilation were not run.
